Yes! WeLoveGlasses!
October 8, 2011 Comments Off Hi guys!
Today I have the pleasure to present a new category of entertainment on Needful Things.
The Interviews.
Let me introduce you a very interesting start-up’s project. For all the the lovers of the sunglasses: Weloveglasses.com.
WeLoveGlasses is a start-up founded in early 2011 by Fabrizio Tucci. The basic idea is very easy: let users upload their photos wearing glasses, vote for them and comment on them. What comes out is a community mixing glasses, people, fashion and style.
The Interview:
Who’s behind WeLoveGlasses?
Four friends that wanted to face this challenge: no sponsor nor company is behind us, which makes us work in our spare time, but makes us independent and enthusiastic about our passions. Fabrizio Tucci, founder and web designer, has teamed up with Marco Bono, programmer, Matteo Graser, in charge with promotion and Matteo Sassano, our press officer.
Hi, what’s the idea behind weloveglasses?
We launched WeLoveGlasses because we wanted to start our own project from scratch, combining our passions… A website where people can have fun with photos of glasses, and also follow trends, like cool-hunters. We want now to be a reference linking the world of glasses with the Internet and its users.
Is it easy to create a start-up in Italy? Tell us about your experience
it’s not easy. The Italians are clever and sometimes gifted, there are many start-ups launched by young people under 30 like us. It is difficult in Italy to aim at big investments on the Internet, unlike in Silicon Valley or the United Kingdom. Therefore you need to count on yourself: the right people, technologies and great determination.
What are the next steps of We Love Glasses?
We are planning many new features:
Constant improvement to the website to make it more complete and interactive, new sections for
well-known brands and emerging designers of spectacles, for opticians, an app for the iPhone and
iPad and other things that you will know over time!
Your users greatly support your work. It is made for users. What are the most frequently questions about your work?
It’s the users that make the community. The interest shown by foreign countries, such as Brazil, Australia and Thailand, amazed us! Their feedback helped us improve the content and fix small bugs. What they ask is for info about the models of glasses they see in the pictures and for better integration with Facebook.
The last one. Your blog section is a very interesting trend-setting view for glasses fashion. Are you inspired by your users? Have you ever thought to send your users a pdf with all the latest trends?
There was no need for a fashion blog – there are so many around, although glasses are not much dealt with on the web. We targeted at our bloggers, enthusiastic people working in this sector, and asked for a truly independent and reliable opinion to talk about well-known brands, as well as trends that arouse our curiosity, which are often not emphasized.
WeLoveGlasses is growing and becoming more mature: we want to offer a service and a reference for all information related to glasses, able to be fun. We aim at meeting up with our people – as in our events – and we hope that this project can be fun.
