Needful talks with Alessandro Pianta

Alessandro Pianta is a brilliant shoes creator. In this interview we will discover his wondrous art.

Hello Alessandro, tell us a little about you, where is born your passion for fashion?

I was born in Brescia in 1984, at the base of my work there’s the passion for fashion, that is all along embedded in my DNA. I began designing women’s clothing, but sometimes life is very clear suggesting you what are you keen on doing. When I had job interviews, a simple footwear that I drew as a contour clothing, levied much more successful. So I decided to dedicate myself to the footwear world and in 2009 was born my line of hand-made shoes.

What does inspire your creations, your collections?

I am inspired by everything I like in a certain time: a movie, a song, a flower… Something that creates a certain atmosphere in my head. But I think, first of all, I draw my inspiration from the kind of woman to whom I want to catch up with. Proportions are very important and a certain harmony which is sometimes the right mix of contradictions. I like revise and make contemporary some classic pieces, that’s why I have a particular taste for the court shoe, which I think is the feminine shoe par excellence.

In a moment when the commercial standardization of products is progressing, you are creating the opposite, in a homemade way. Does the market, especially the Italian one, support your passion?

Surely the Italian market is undergoing a great crisis, but I don’t want to see this as a brake, rather it is a boost and a challenge. I believe in a product durable in time and I really hope that this crisis induces consumers to make valid evaluations before buying. It’s not easy to find suitable locations for my shoes, they are a niche product, but I’m sure that with the right engagement, Italy will be a good market.

We notice that your collections are much-admired online… What is your relationship with technology?

Technology is very important for me, both as an advertising medium, both as immediate comparison with consumers. Internet is a great resource and I admit that it’s also very useful for working with my craftsman.

The last one. How do you think to evolve your professional figure? What directions do you want to follow? What will be your next trend?

My intent is to acquire more and more in my field and in the commercial one. I follow personally every aspect of the process, from the creation to the production and the selling. I would also expand abroad, rendering my name a well-known brand. Currently, apart following my line, I collaborate with Mila Schon to the realization of the shoe collection and I would love to collaborate also with other brands. My next trend will be the contrasts game between different materials and in the next collection there will be a touch of oomph.
